I’ll be the first to admit that I’m too lazy to stick to a skincare routine. For years I bought products in what I can only describe as a haphazard style, leaving me with hoards of half used, half loved bottles.
During the recent house move I decided enough was enough. Matt was sure to get fed up of my stacks of half empties and it was about time I found some staples. So far I’ve slim lined my haircare products and even managed to find “the perfect” cleanser (Elemis Melting Cleansing Gel) but I’m still not committed to a routine.
Maybe I need a gadget for encouragement – story of my life. Give me a steam cleaner and I’ll clean everything, a new blender and I’ll make smoothies for life. So I started looking:
‘Pore’-fector gadget by Bliss
At £128 you’re set up to expect great things from this. In essence it vibrates dirt from your pores – think sonic toothbrush. Reviews are poles apart, it’s a love/hate piece of kit. Also, why the hell does everything vibrate these days, especially mascara, surely that just makes poking yourself in the eye easier?
Wave by Neutrogena
This was probably the first sonic facial gadget I heard about. It’s cute, compact, cheaper than most, but it lets its self down massively by tying you to buying replacement pads and forcing you to use the already built in product. Sigh…
Mia by Clarisonic
Much like the ‘pore’-fector, this promises to reach new levels of clean and comes in lots of lovely colours. The £95 price tag is a little more affordable (can I even use that word for something around the £100 mark?!) Users note that you end up using less of your chosen product as it really works it in. Anyone tried it?
Pore perfection kit by iSkin
I really didn’t expect to find a sonic cleansing gadget for less than £50 that didn’t tie you to a product so I was really excited to come across the iSkin. It’s been likened to the Clarisonic but is just £30. Hello! It does come with a product, as you can see in the photo, but you can use anything you like and the head should last at least a year if you clean it well.
So which did I get? I’ll review it when it comes 😉

I’d love to try the clarisonic now that I have the iSkin. I do love it but I wonder how long it will last given that it was only £30. I’d feel lost without it though, my skin is so smooth! x
