Yesterday evening, I stood under the glass shelter at my parent’s house, watching a storm unfold. The sky looked angry and full but I adore everything about thunderstorms. I love the ultra serene ‘calm before the storm’ and the smell that fills the air. Then seeing it turn in to cold whips of wind and big fat rain drops that I’d be happy to get caught in. Finally comes the hot cracks of lightning with the rumbles that feel like they shake your bones. Thunderstorms excite me!
Photos taken with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 on loan to me for review.
Weather like this reminds me of holidays and how awesome nature is. Electricity, right out of thin air, how amazing is that?

These photos are incredible! I absolutely love thunder storms – we have a skylight in our kitchen, and just love hearing the rain against it, and hearing the thunder.

You can’t beat rain on a window can you? My family used to take our caravan to France most summers and the sound of rain on the roof became one of my favourite noises. So soothing!

I love the way you write, Vicki! Thunderstorms are so exciting. The smell that fills the air is wonderful too – all electric and petrichor-y!

I feel like I should have slipped petrichor in now. SUCH a good word! One of my favourite scents too

I have to agree with others – the photography is amazing, especially the first photo. Makes me wish I didn’t live in the city! And what a wonderful idea for a post; I know the calm before the storm feeling!

Thank you so much. It would be difficult to get a bad photo of such dramatic weather
