You know those tiny moments where everything just feels perfect. This is a glimpse back to my Easter bank holiday:
The weather was beautiful, I felt like I’d finally beaten Shingles and I had my two favourite boys with me.
We headed to Conishead Priory, a Buddhist centre about fifteen minutes drive from our house. They have the most gorgeous grounds for Fynn to stretch his legs in and lots of different walks to choose from. The one we chose takes you meandering through a wooded area on mud free, wheelchair and pushchair friendly paths and is just six minutes to the beach.
There are benches dotted about along the way with folk enjoying picnics, taking a break and the centre its self has a cafe open to the public, so it’s the perfect place to take someone that wants to go a walk, but can’t always manage a proper walk… (that would be me).
After a while the woods open up to a pebble beach overlooking the Leven Estuary and Chapel Island (the one that William Wordsworth wrote about). There’s a lady sat on the beach front, deep in a novel. The whole grounds are so peaceful and quiet. It’s like being in another world.
On the wander back we spotted this bricked up tree. I’m sure there are lots of tales told about it to children. “I wonder what lives in there?”
We’re going to go back for one of the open days and take a look around the building and learn a bit more about the history of the priory because it’s just so beautiful. Expect lots of pictures when that happens. Do you have any hidden gems in your area for walks? I honestly felt like I was exploring the secret garden here!
Let me know what you think
