2013 had it’s rough parts. It was the year of the gas leak, the roof leak, the car coolant leak, the year our house was broken in to, the year some menace kicked our car and left two whopping dents. The year of a never ending bathroom renovation. The loss of one of the kindest hearted people I’ve ever met. The year of too many medical appointments. The year my lovely Nan had a stroke.
Despite the above, a fleeting glimpse at the good bits of 2013 says it was still a good year overall and that’s what I focussed my thoughts on as we watched Jools Holland count out the year.
… when we celebrated lots of new additions for our friends; rings, bumps and babies!
… the year Matt travelled 271miles to see a Springsteen gig with me – he doesn’t like Springsteen. That’s love.
… the year I had my nicest hospital stay to date – thank you Furness General Oncology.
… when I first filmed with Loyd Grossman and I’ll be doing it again in 2014 thanks to you guys!
… when we celebrated Matt turning 30.
… the year you guys enjoyed these three posts the most: one, two, three.
… the year we got a PS4, Xbox One, two Nexus 5s and a new TV. What a year for tech!
… the year that my friends were happier, which makes me happier too!
… the year my blog moved to WordPress.
… the year we welcomed new chickens.
…. the year I ended up using a hearing aid (it’s awesome and I rock it!)
… the year I managed THREE nights out! (Calm down)
… the year I made it on to Refinery 29, in to Morrisons and Blogosphere magazine.
… the year I discovered the best gin.
… the year that reminded me that studying hard for my degree pays off in the exam hall.
… the year I saw The Cribs.
… the year I got a realistic diagnosis. Yep, we haven’t talked about that one yet but I promise we will soon.
I can’t share this post without saying a thank you to this blog’s readers and subscribers. Between you all you’ve added a mass feeling of friendship and support to my year. Your comments make me laugh, smile and want to write more content to keep you coming to visit me. Let’s see what we can whip up in 2014.

2013 had its challenges for you but it just goes to show that you’re stronger than all that stuff that happened to you AND the good always outweighs the bad!! Here’s to a better, healthier and geekier 2014!

Oh what a year. Sometimes it’s really difficult to see the sun behind the clouds, but stopping to look and reflect is so important. Best wishes for 2014 x
