This week has been tough. I’ve been quiet on the blogging front for a two reasons, the first is a good one; I actually managed to do things last week! I spent a couple of hours with good friends, celebrated a 30th with a meal and had a BBQ at Matt’s Mum’s house to celebrate a few family Birthdays. I was so happy I was feeling up to these things but then came the bad bit… I’ve really paid for being out and about.
Tuesday was my worst day in a long while and to make it even worse I had to be at two different Hospitals within an hour of each other. I was exhausted, dizzy, struggling to string sentences together and not keeping food or water down. I spent the entire time out of the house trying not to be sick, locating bathrooms and being sick in them. I lead a glamorous life!
My ENT appointment didn’t go well. He is “very concerned” about the progression of my hearing loss and the fact my bowel disease is unmanaged. I’m currently on treatment for Menieres but that doesn’t account for the level of my hearing loss so I’m probably starting high dose immunosuppressants as well soon. There are more biopsies, MRIs, prodding and poking down the line and I’m not happy about it. I’ve been feeling really glum.
Sometimes you just need to step back and focus on the little things that make you happy, because they are still there even on my worst days. When Lucy from Mrs Bishop’s Bakes tagged me to give this a go, I thought it might be just what I needed. So here goes, my first 50 of happiness is 100 things…
- Iced coffee on a hot day
- A cup of earl grey with friends
- Planning an adventure, no matter how little
- Empty plates after a meal I’ve made
- Hearing the wind rush through the trees when I’m tucked up in bed
- The smell of freshly washed hair
- Making Matt laugh
- Clean sheets to snuggle up in
- Freshly painted toes
- Watching my friend’s children grow up
- Sinking in to the beanbag to watch a film
- The “in jokes” that only Matt & I will get
- Trying something new
- The greeting I get from Fynn when I wake up in the morning
- Having my hair played with
- My Nanna telling me stories
- Flicking through old photos
- Hearing an awesome song on the radio
- Sand between my toes
- Watching lambs bound around a field
- Crunchy leaves on Autumn walks
- San Pellegrino
- Visits to Matt’s Grandparent’s house
- Sweets so sour they make your face screw up
- A song that brings back memories
- Cuddles with Fynn
- Being drug free! (If only for a short while)
- Ice cold chocolate milk
- Thunderstorms and heavy rain, watched from the window of course
- A spontaneous night out / dinner party
- Watching someone unwrap a well thought out gift
- When you get a poached egg absolutely perfect
- Bubble baths
- The smell of bread baking
- Dropping something then catching it again mid air. You’ve got skills.
- Getting lost in a good book
- Cuddles from Matt
- Lovely blog comments from readers
- New baby news
- Family meals
- Knowing you have a real bargain
- New gadgets
- Catching the ice cream van and feeling like you’re 10 again
- Dreaming about the future
- The satisfying pop of a champagne cork
- Crackling fires
- Owls hooting in the night
- A fair weather forecast
- Snow falling
- That tiny bubble that floats out of the top of the washing up liquid bottle
