Once upon a time, you could make any normal household item electronic and it would have been the super high tech product of the future, wanted by geeks and their girls everywhere. These days though things are a little different. Our lives are filled with tech and we need some space from that sometimes to relax.
For me, relaxation is lighting my candles and chilling out on my bed with a good book. There’s something so soothing about them. When I was offered some to try out, I was obviously going to say yes (send me candles anytime) but I was a bit dubious about the fact they were remote control candles. At the time I thought it might be just another gimmick, but I was wrong…
When they arrived I was surprised at how much they actually looked like real candles – they’re actually finished in wax! They came with a dinky remote control that lets you swap them between the flickering candle effect and a constant light. They also have 2 different brightness settings and a 4/8hr timer feature.
When I started to think about it, there are a heap of situations where a real candle just won’t cut it. These won’t set fire to your curtains or scald your little ones. They’re perfect for outdoor use and won’t blow out in the wind. It doesn’t matter if you forget to blow them out when you go to bed, just put them on timer and fall asleep with them flickering. I imagine they’re much more cost effective for venue dressers to use than real candles as each should last 50,000 hours.
I couldn’t help but feel that somehow adding scent would make them that little bit more special, still mine will certainly get a lot of use. If you’d like to get your hands on some, they’re reduced to £11.99 at the moment over at Paramount Zone and there’s still time to order before Christmas!
