I spent yesterday morning in the sunroom of my Parent’s house, cosy in the lovely Ted Baker dressing gown that they gave me for Christmas. Fynn curled up at my feet, I sipped a hot cup of tea and a box of truffles rested on the arm of the sofa. They’d come all the way from Jersey, just for me. I ‘lucky dipped’ my way through them whilst I did some research for this blog post. It was bliss.
The La Mare truffles were a gift from the Jersey Tourist Board and Travel Service, who I’m currently working with. For those that know I’ve never been to Jersey, that might seem strange but I love exploring our Great British Isles on ‘stay-cations’ and Jersey’s strong ties with food call me to it.
When I ask my Nan about her time in Jersey, she tells me very fond memories of scones with lashings of jam and Jersey cream, and beautiful sea side views. I think that’s one of the things that makes trips away so special, the memories stay with you for all your years – my Nanna is 86!
If you have any memories of Jersey or special photos, there’s a competition running on the Tourist Board’s Facebook page to win a two night break for four people. You’ll be put up in a wonderful 4 star hotel and flights and car hire are included. For the chance to win, all you have to do is share any memories you have of the Island or special photos on their facebook page. You need to be quick about it though, there are only two days to enter!
I’d very much love for one of you to win the holiday, if only for the chance to visit La Mare Wine Estates and sample their chocolate, wines and preserves. I’d be incredibly envious! Matt and I would love to plan a break somewhere in the UK later on in the year and Jersey is high on the dream list.
Oh and in case you’re wondering, the white chocolate truffle with the orange ripple over the top was my winner.
