I have an issue with the design of lip balms. If you have nails of any description you’ll know how hard it is to get lip balm out of the pan without getting it under your nails – you might be fine with a brand new product but if you’ve made even the smallest dent, the nail digging begins. I’m fed up of this and my beloved Sweet Cecily’s Early Grey Balm just had to go.
So what other options are out there? I didn’t want a lip gloss, and the balms sold in “lipstick” shape are often too soft to use without breaking or making a mess. In comes Eos to the rescue…
The sphere is so tactile and ridiculously cute. I’m a sucker for nifty packaging and I love how eye catching this design is. The balm its self is 100% natural, made from beautifully rich shea, jojoba and vitamin E.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect flavour/scent wise, I went for “Honeysuckle Honeydew” but what was it – a melon and a flower? To me it’s certainly more of a melon scent which I’m really pleased with. We’re always seeing the typical Strawberry lip products, it’s nice to try something different.
A lot of the time lip balms seem to sacrifice their texture to make sure they’re super moisturising. What you end up with is a product that is too thick and sometimes oily – yuck! I really appreciate how thin and fresh the Eos balm is when it’s applied. The texture is perfect for me and still manages to leave my lips soft and smooth.
Now I know a few of you will be sat there thinking “Balmi is the same” but after half an hour spent reading reviews and comparisons Eos was the clear winner. As Sophia over at Tattooed Tea Lady pointed out, Balmi has some fatal design flaws that expose the insides to dirt and grime. It may be a cheaper but it won’t stand up to being carted around in your handbag like the Eos version will.
I got mine from Amazon for £6.99 inc postage but Boots stock them I’ve since spotted them on Naturisimo for a pound cheaper – my inner bargain hunter is livid! I’ve only had this for 5 days and I already know I’ll be repurchasing when this one runs low.

I think I’d go for this over a Balmi any day, as this has lovely natural ingredients. I’ve eyed them up a few times on various websites but never took the plunge. I think I might have to soon, or at least once my spending ban is over 🙂

I always think it’s worth paying that little bit extra to know there’s nothing bad for you hidden in the ingredients, especially when it’s just £1! Good luck with the rest of your spending ban! x
